During your stay, you'll be looked after by our local host team in Fisherhaven. They are your first point of contact for check-in, directions, local recommendations, or anything you may need — ensuring a smooth and relaxed experience from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave.
Good to know before you book
The house and the nature reserve
- MBIZI lagoon house is located inside a private nature reserve. Wild animals — including the famous Fisherhaven horses — roam freely on and around the property.
- Quiet, respectful behaviour is appreciated. The house is not suitable for parties or large events.
- Pets are not permitted.
Check-in and guest information
- For security reasons, all guests must provide their full name, ID details, the names and ages of any accompanying children, their vehicle registration number, and estimated arrival time before check-in.
- This information is treated confidentially and is required by the private nature reserve. Late or missing information may result in a delayed check-in.
Pricing and cleaning
- Prices are per night and vary by season. The rate shown at checkout is the final rate for your selected dates.
- A final cleaning fee is charged per booking.
- A refundable security deposit (keys and potential damages) is required prior to check-in. The amount may vary at our discretion.
- For stays of eight nights or more, a mid-stay clean including fresh linen is provided at no extra charge. Additional cleaning can be arranged with 24 hours' notice and is subject to a supplementary fee.
- Electricity is subject to a fair-use policy allowing for reasonable daily consumption. In rare cases of unusually high usage, a small additional charge may apply.
Cancellation policy
- Up to 15 days before arrival: free cancellation, full refund.
- Less than 15 days before arrival: the booking fee is non-refundable.
Questions about booking
Do the length-of-stay discounts apply during South African school holidays?
Yes — the weekly and fortnightly discounts apply year-round without exception.
What if I've already booked through Airbnb or Booking.com?
Once a booking is confirmed on a third-party platform, we can't retroactively change the channel. But we can note your stay as a 'first visit' so that your next direct booking automatically qualifies for the returning-guest discount.
Is the best-rate guarantee genuine?
Yes. Because we set the rates on every platform ourselves, the direct rate is always equal to or lower than any OTA rate. If you find the same dates cheaper elsewhere within 24 hours of booking, email us a screenshot and we will match the rate.
